“Le droghe nello sport diventeranno legali. Ringraziate WADA per questo”.
E’ il j’accuse lanciato da un autorevole sito americano d’informazioni, “The Duran”. Un intervento che – è il caso di dire – più duro non si può, a piedi uniti contro la World Anti Doping Agency, ossia la potente Agenzia internazionale che, in teoria, è chiamata a combattere l’uso di droghe e sostanze dopanti nello sport. E che – secondo “The Duran” – finisce per fare letteralmente il contrario.
Sulle imprese griffate Wada la Voce ha più volte realizzato articoli e inchieste, tutte partite dall’incredibile tragi-sceneggiata che ha visto, suo malgrado, come protagonista il campione di marcia altoatesino Alex Schwazer.

Nell’ultimo intervento, infatti, si parla del ruolo giocato da IAAF (ossia la Federazione Internazionale per l’Atletica) e dalla stessa WADA. La Wada ha querelato, per lesa maestà, i 19 articoli e inchieste scritti dalla Voce. Il processo si svolgerà a Napoli.

Sei un atleta e sei stato sorpreso a prendere droghe proibite? Dì solo che non l’hai fatto per migliorare le tue prestazioni. L’Agenzia mondiale antidoping è stata creata come una struttura che avrebbe combattuto per uno sport equo. Oggi c’è una forte impressione che la WADA stia facendo l’esatto contrario. Verrà apportata una serie di modifiche controverse al codice dell’Agenzia a partire dal 2021. Ad esempio, un atleta scoperto a usare droghe non sarà più squalificato per due anni, come prima. È sufficiente dimostrare che ha tolto dalla concorrenza sostanze illegali e questo non influisce sulla sua prestazione. In questo caso, sarà squalificato solo per tre mesi. Se l’Atleta accetta di sottoporsi alla riabilitazione, la sospensione può durare solo un mese alla volta. La decisione WADA ha naturalmente provocato un’ampia risposta pubblica. Anche le precedenti attività dell’agenzia non possono essere definite oneste e imparziali. Impossibile non ricordare la storia del campione olimpico americano Gil Roberts. L’atleta è stato sorpreso dall’uso del probenecid, che migliora la resistenza fisica e aiuta ad eliminare altri farmaci dal corpo. Roberts ha incolpato tutta la colpa sulla ragazza che aveva baciato il giorno prima. È difficile credere che una quantità sufficiente di sostanza possa essere trasmessa in questo modo, ma questa versione è diventata ufficiale e Roberts era giustificata. “Verso l’01: 00 o l’01: 30 è uscita in cucina per bere la medicina. Non ha detto a Roberts cosa stava facendo e lui non l’ha vista prendere la medicina. Aprì la capsula, si versò il contenuto in bocca, poi si sciacquò la bocca con acqua. Presto iniziò a baciare Roberts. Roberts non poteva contare il numero di volte che si sono baciati tra quel momento e l’arrivo dell’agente doping alle 4:00 “, dice il rapporto. La nuotatrice americana Madison Cox è stata quasi squalificata per 4 anni per aver usato trimetazidina. Cox avrebbe dovuto dire che questa era la prima volta che aveva sentito parlare del farmaco in modo da poter avere un periodo di squalifica più breve. Quando ha affermato che il doping era entrato nel suo corpo con l’acqua del rubinetto, l’atleta è stata assolta. Su questa base, si può sostenere che la WADA ha praticato a lungo una sorta di indulgenza per i trasgressori. Le nuove regole sono un tentativo di legittimare il processo. Si pone quindi una giusta domanda: chi sarà esattamente soggetto all’assoluzione? Ricordiamo tutti bene lo scandalo del doping in Russia. Gli esperti della WADA sono giunti alla conclusione che il database consegnato loro dal Moscow AntiDoping Laboratory è stato modificato per nascondere i risultati di alcuni test antidoping. Presumibilmente, ci sono stati 145 casi di violazione. La misura punitiva è stata una sospensione di quattro anni, ma non per gli atleti, ma per l’intero Paese. La decisione ha dimostrato quanto sia diventata politicizzata l’agenzia, poiché la Russia è ben lungi dall’essere il leader tra i truffatori sportivi mondiali. Secondo le statistiche presentate nel dicembre dello scorso anno, l’Italia è diventata leader nell’uso del doping. Il secondo posto è andato alla Francia e il terzo agli Stati Uniti. Nessuno di questi paesi è stato privato del diritto di partecipare a grandi eventi sportivi. E ora anche l’uso di droghe da parte degli atleti non sarà un problema per loro. Se la pensi diversamente, ti ricordiamo che il più grande sponsor della WADA sono gli USA. Difficilmente possiamo parlare di imparzialità in questo scenario.

The World Anti-Doping Agency was created as a structure that would fight for fair sport. Today, there is a strong impression that WADA is doing the exact opposite. A number of controversial amendments will be made to the Agency’s code from 2021. For example, an athlete found to be using drugs will no longer be disqualified for two years, as before. It is sufficient to prove that he took illegal substances out of competition, and this does not affect his performance. In this case, he will only be disqualified for three months. If the Athlete agrees to undergo rehabilitation, the suspension can only last one month at a time.
The WADA decision has naturally provoked a wide public response. Only the agency’s previous activities cannot be called honest and unbiased either. It is impossible not to remember the story of American Olympic champion Gil Roberts.
The athlete was caught on the use of probenecid, which improves physical endurance and helps to eliminate other drugs from the body. Roberts blamed all the guilt on the girl he had kissed the day before. It is hard to believe that enough substance can be transmitted in this way, but this version has become official and Roberts was justified.
“At around 01:00 or 01:30 she went out into the kitchen to drink the medicine. She did not tell Roberts what she was doing and he did not see her taking the medicine. She opened the capsule, poured the contents into her mouth, then rinsed her mouth with water. Soon she started kissing Roberts. Roberts couldn’t count the number of times they kissed between that time and the arrival of the doping officer at 4:00”, – the report said.
American swimmer Madison Cox was almost disqualified for 4 years for using trimetazidine. Cox should have said that this was the first time she had heard of the drug so that she could have a shorter disqualification period. When she claimed that doping had entered her body with tap water, the athlete was acquitted.
On this basis, it can be argued that WADA has long practiced a kind of indulgence for violators. The new rules are an attempt to legitimise the process. Then a fair question arises: who exactly will be subject to the acquittal? We all remember the doping scandal in Russia well.
WADA experts came to the conclusion that the database handed over to them by Moscow AntiDoping Laboratory was edited to hide the results of some doping tests. Presumably, there were 145 cases of violation. The punitive measure was a four-year suspension, but not for athletes, but for the whole country. The decision demonstrated how politicised the agency has become, as Russia is far from being the leader among the world’s sport fraudsters.
According to statistics presented in December last year, Italy became the leader in doping use. The second place went to France, and the third went to the United States. None of these countries has been deprived of the right to participate in major sporting events. And now even the use of drugs by athletes will not be a problem for them. If you think otherwise, we remind you that the largest sponsor of WADA is the USA. We can hardly talk about impartiality in this scenario.
